Day Ten - Lets get stuck in the parking garage...and miss the flight home

May 12, 2002

We got to bed on time, after a so so dinner down the street from our large, budget hotel, and had to get up at the crack of dawn to shower, grab a bite to eat, and head out to the airport to return the hertz rent a car. Everything went smoothly, until...I tried to leave the garage. In one of my more dunder head moves, I got confused and went up the circular drive, the wrong way - and it was a good three loops up. I don't know if you have ever tried to back up, downhill, in a parking garage circular driveway, but I don't recommend it. It seemed to take for ever to back down - ten feet, into the wall, pull forward, straighten out, go down ten feet into the wall, repeat. I was sweating and it was only 7am. Needless to say we made it to the airport, gassed up, returned the car to the wrong hertz return spot two terminals over from International, and had one heck of a long walk to check in and then wait for our flight. Ah, but it was over, Paula missed the girls, I was tired of driving backwards. I missed the Shark's Playoffs, Paula was tired of the cool weather. We were ready to return to the States.

We landed in Miami around in the late afternoon and arrived at the Marriott Miami Beach and relaxed at the pool in the cool breezes, before freshening up and heading over to Joe's Stone Crabs. If you have never had stone Crabs you must try them. They are different than Dungeness or King crabs, and pretty darn sweet! Joe's is a good place to go, as is Monty's. Mmm, and the creamed spinich is to die for!

Another night in a hotel, an early wake, quick shot to the airport, flight through Dallas, and finally we arrive in Greenville, SC. It was a nice change to be back with family, and talk about our trip. Hope this didn't bore you too much. bye!
