| This is the rough up of the water feature that will go in the back of the pool. Also, you can see the form for a planting bed right next to the pool in the front of the picture. Apparently that is the rage, to soften the pool, they add a planting bed near the pool. Paula picked out the tile and rock face they are adding on the back side of the pool. When the pool is finished it won't have that seventies look any longer. |
Here is a shot of the water feature and planting area around it. This was just cement and lawn area. The controls for the water feature, to control water flow, are located in the planting area by the deck. I guess it will make a platform to dive into the pool as well as a water feature. What you can't see is the trashed lawn to the left where garbage, rocks, dirt, etc. were dumped and
resulted in more lawn kill off than was necessary. Same thing for the back lawn area. As a wise man once said, " proper pre-party planning prevents piss-poor party performance." |
| Ok, we have a backyard again, not just a mud pit for pigs to wallow in! Here is the pad for the spa as well as a new planting area at the corner of the house. The bushes in back will eventually go I think. We are told we are two weeks away from finishing up this phase of the construction. We chose to have exposed aggregate put down instead of flagstone or brushed or salted cement. Somewhat of an aesthetic choice as well as a money issue. We gained some pool deck area with the new design, so we can add some additional seating and dining area. They also added some additional drains, which is probably a good thing. I did notice that the cement area looks like it might have some ridges in it, which I'm not sure were planned. We'll see. |
Next the electrician has to finish his work for the spa and for the pool equipment that was where this planting area is located. The pool equipment is on the other side of the house now. Another area of contention with Hawkins--the electrical. I had two outlets located with the pool equipment, one powered the sprinkler systems in the back. There was another electrical outlet on the gazebo that powered my low voltage lighting. Hawkins drew them in the original design and apparently didn't calculate them into the project and wanted to charge an additional $550 for adding two electrical receptacles and another $350 to wire up an outside light. Too much for my taste. |
